Before welcoming 2023, I reflect on the past year. What stands out most are the new places I’ve visited, learning to ride a bicycle, and roller skating.
New Adventures
Alex and I experienced new adventures traveling to places like St. Augustine in Florida, Red River Gorge in Kentucky, and Hawaii for the first time. Each place had beautiful landscapes and peaceful scenery.
We spent time with family while touring St. Augustine, the oldest city in America. Red River Gorge gave us a sense of adventure and awe as we hiked to Gray’s Arch, one of over a hundred natural sandstone arches in the area. And I consider our trip to Hawaii the honeymoon we never had.
Learning to Ride a Bicycle
With three previous blog posts about my bike riding journey, it’s no wonder that Learning to Ride a Bicycle as an Adult has had such a huge impact.
In learning to ride a bike, I faced and overcame challenges and fears, built self-confidence, and discovered a new activity I enjoy.
My Roller Skating Hobby
I was Inspired to Roller Skate in 2021 and have continued with this hobby, skating twice a week on average. I have since upgraded my previous blue skates to a custom set thanks to my hubby.
While I can do several things I couldn’t do when I first started, there are still more I’d like to be able do (or do better). Basically, I want to dance on quads.
My husband recently told me that he noticed my progress. It’s a nice reminder that while it sometimes seems slow and incremental, I have come a long way.
Grateful for These Experiences
In looking back at this past year, I’m so grateful for all of these experiences and that I shared them with my husband. While these experiences may stand out most, there are countless ones that I’m as equally thankful for.
As 2022 comes to an end, I hope that these experiences will help to shape my 2023.
