I heard one of my favorite hymns, “Be Not Afraid” in church today. It’s a song I learned when I was a child.
I find comfort in the song’s verses:
“You shall cross the barren desert,
but you shall not die of thirst.
You shall wander far in safety,
though you do not know the way.
Be not afraid,
I go before you always,
Come follow Me,
and I shall give you rest.
If you pass through raging waters
in the sea, you shall not drown.
If you walk amidst the burning flames,
you shall not be harmed.“
This song is a reminder for me to not be anxious or afraid for God is always with me. It reminds me to trust in God especially during challenging times. When I keep focus on Him, I worry less and I trust that things will work out.
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
